The Bucyrus, Ohio community is mourning the unexpected loss of Dr. Attila Z. Nagy, DDS, MS, a respected dentist, orthodontist, and co-founder of Oakwood Dental Bucyrus, General Dentistry and Orthodontics. His passing has brought sadness to his family, patients, colleagues, and everyone whose life he touched through his work and kindness.
Oakwood Dental shared the difficult news with the community, expressing its grief following Dr. Nagy’s passing.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the recent and unexpected death of Dr. Attila Nagy. As I am sure you can understand the family needs time to grieve their loss, and therefore the office will be closed for the next week or two. Information about memorial services will be forthcoming via local papers.”

Dr. Nagy founded Oakwood Dental in 2006 with his wife, Dr. Michelle Nagy. Together, they built a practice centered around patient care, trust, and a commitment to helping people improve their health and confidence.
Born in Hungary, Dr. Nagy moved to the United States in 1991 to pursue his education. His journey included learning English while working as a nanny for three children, where he first became familiar with the language through watching Sesame Street with them. His determination and dedication guided him through a remarkable academic and professional path.
Dr. Nagy earned a Bachelor of Science in Entomology and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University. He later completed a Master of Science in Specialized Orthodontics from the International Medical College in Münster, Germany.
Throughout his career, Dr. Nagy remained committed to expanding his knowledge and helping others in the dental profession. He participated in thousands of hours of orthodontic training and shared his expertise by teaching other dental professionals about orthodontics and sleep and airway management related to dentistry.
Patients appreciated Dr. Nagy not only for his skills but for the personal connections he created. He often spoke about choosing dentistry because it allowed him to build his own practice and spend time getting to know the people he cared for. He valued hearing patients’ stories and understanding the individuals behind every smile.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Nagy was passionate about whole-body health, exploring the connections between lifestyle, sleep, airway health, and overall wellness. Outside the office, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children Adrianna and Dominik, and his beloved animals. His interests included exercise, boxing, skiing, taekwondo, and beekeeping.
Dr. Nagy was an active member of professional organizations including the ADA, ODA, Central Ohio Dental Association, and the European Orthodontic Society.
His legacy will continue through the patients he helped, the professionals he inspired, and the family who loved him. The Bucyrus community remembers Dr. Attila Nagy as a compassionate healthcare provider, devoted husband and father, and a person whose dedication made a lasting difference.
